BAT Niemeyer is the worldwide production facility for fine-cut tobacco (such as roll your own tobacco products), located in the Northern part of The Netherlands. BAT Niemeyer has a long and rich history, dating back to 1819, when Meindert Niemeijer founded his business in ‘colonial goods’, including tobacco, coffee and tea. His son, Theodorus Niemeyer, expanded the businesses in the 20th century, and the company received the Royal designation in 1969 – which still graces the company today. Currently, more than 300 people are working in Groningen, where they produce over 10 billion kilograms of tobacco per year, supplying to markets all across the world, including Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, France and Australia.
These abovementioned entities form part of the British American Tobacco Plc, an international Group that operates more than 100 years, employs more than 50,000 people and manages a portfolio of more than 200 brands distributed in more than 200 markets.
